    This is a hands-on foundational course in digital storytelling using various media tools emphasizing digital production and distribution. Students learn the fundamentals of the professional audio, video, and graphic programs necessary for upper level courses in media production and journalism. Lectures, field trips, and workshops immerse students in the researching, organizing, structuring, production, and publishing stages of digital storytelling.  Students build a high quality portfolio that presents a central theme and explores it through multiple stories, across a variety of media. Through the course, students connect contemporary social issues and trends in digital storytelling through their research while gaining media production skills. For majors only.
